EVERY CHILD DESERVES A CHANCE TO COME HOME

In Uganda, thousands of children grow up on the streets—alone, afraid, and forced to survive in conditions no child should face. At STEPS, we believe the street is never a place for a child.

Rooted in Christian compassion, we walk alongside vulnerable children and families to restore safety, dignity, and belonging—one child, one family, one step at a time.

VISION

A nation where no child lives on the streets—and every child grows up in a safe, loving home.

MISSION

To rescue, rehabilitate, reconcile, and resettle vulnerable children into safe homes where they can thrive.

Through rehabilitation, education, and vocational training, we help each child heal from trauma, regain dignity, and build a hopeful future.

What We Do

Children do not end up on the streets without a story. Poverty, loss, abuse, addiction, and family breakdown all push them into survival mode.
We meet children exactly where they are and walk with them toward a new beginning.

When a child is found on the streets, STEPS acts immediately:

If safe, we begin family tracing and reconciliation right away.

If not, the child enters our rehabilitation home, where healing begins.

In our rehabilitation center, every child receives:

Love, safety, and belonging

Nutritious meals, hygiene, clothing

Trauma counselling & drug recovery support

Individual learning plans + tutoring

Vocational training (carpentry, agriculture, mechanics, tailoring, etc.)

Spiritual and emotional healing

Medical care and mentorship

Play, sports, and joy

OUR COMMITMENT TO EVERY CHILD

“You are not alone anymore.”

Our social workers search for family members, conduct home visits, counsel caregivers, and prepare both child and family for long-term reintegration. After resettlement, STEPS continues supporting the child for years—covering school fees, monitoring progress, and offering ongoing emotional care.

Healing takes time. We stay for the journey.
